Key Issue
The CUSD Bond Measure
The Capistrano Valley School District has placed a $889 million bond measure on the ballot for this election( November 2016) for us to decide. While this may NOT be a City item, I do feel that it has the potential to financially impact our residents over the next thirty years. It is my understanding that they will access each property throughout our city to pay for capital improvement and maintenance issues on all schools throughout the district. The District has not stated how much money will go to our schools in Aliso Viejo and what improvements would be done. At this point I am quite concerned as we have all been burdened with Mello Roos over the years and I am not comfortable with this measure until the Capistrano Unified School District provides a detailed report on the direct fiscal impact on our residents and where the money will be spent. While the City Council does not vote on this issue – you, the residents do – so please be aware that this Bond measure may have a significant impact on the City and your own private property.
